Our Brand Story
When we first arrived in Phinh Ho, the village felt almost completely disconnected from the outside world. There was no electricity, no running water, no mobile signal, and no proper roads. Everything began amid simplicity and hardship. Yet it was from this very place that our journey to preserve and restore the legacy of Vietnam’s ancient tea heritage began.
There, we met Mr. Sung Sau Cua, a tea artisan who was 104 years old. Every morning before sunrise, he would carry a woven basket on his back and walk into the mountains to harvest tea leaves. Returning home, he carefully pan-fired the tea over a wood-burning stove using a well-worn cast-iron pan that had accompanied him for decades.
He was not a man of many words. He simply smiled as his weathered hands skillfully turned the tea leaves, while his eyes sparkled with quiet wisdom. It felt as though he was safeguarding something sacred on behalf of the mountains and forests.
Mr. Cua became our inspiration and our motivation. His dedication reminds us that true value lies not only in creating exceptional tea, but also in preserving the traditions, culture, and spirit that have been passed down through generations.
Inspired by his legacy, we continue our journey as a younger generation, growing alongside the ancient tea trees and working to share the authentic beauty of Shan Tuyet tea with the world.
Our Vision
Ho Shan Tea was founded with a deep commitment to preserving and celebrating the precious buds of ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees. We believe this “green diamond” of the mountains should never be forgotten among the vast forests, but instead be recognized and appreciated for its true value.
Our purpose extends far beyond producing exceptional tea. We are dedicated to creating sustainable livelihoods for local communities, generating meaningful employment opportunities, protecting ancient tea forests, and helping restore Vietnamese tea to its rightful place on the world stage.
